I teach introductory bookbinding techniques and paper marbling through an advanced level at various venues as they become available. With Covid, in person teaching has become extremely challenging and I hope to resume a more robust schedule of classes this year!

INTRODUCTORY BOOKBINDING - JOURNALS

A basic class to introduce students to the concepts of sewing signatures, glueing and pasting, cutting and scoring. Students will leave the workshop with a marbled paper covered handmade journal

INTRO MARBLING

A wonderful introductory class to the ancient art of Paper Marbling. Students will learn the basic elements of marbling, its history and significance and will create 10-15 marbled papers for use in other classes or craft work.

PASTE PAPER

A sister paper decoration art to marbling, paste paper creations are wonderfully approachable and produce fascinating decorative papers for bookbinding and all manner of craft activies. Students will learn the basics of paste paper making as well as create 10-15 paste papers.

BOOK RESTORATION TECHNIQUES

Students learn basic book restoration techniques to enable them to perform basic repairs on most books old and new.

ADVANCED PAPER MARBLING

We explore acrylic marbling with stone and vein patterns in this class. Students learn more advanced techniques and considerations to take their marbling to the next level. Troubleshooting and schools of marbling technique. Each student will create 10-15 marbled papers.

INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTION

I help students with various aspects of bookbinding and paper marbling on a limited basis.
