Today we began our marbling journey in earnest. Our cohort of ten marblers started off with preparing papers for dither development later this week either for Peek-a- boo or overmarbling. We proceeded right along to explore the Italians sisters comb, skip comb and worked on spinnaker, spinnaker cable, Jane’s Braid, kismet, Sasha - and Sasha again with waves! We were lucky to have the actual Sasha in our class to give a personal demo!

Lunch, plenty of discussions unfolded through the day, who knows water travels at 4000 meters per second on the surface of carrageenan …

We talked about the the three handed atom bonding of aluminum sulfate as it binds our paint to paper and why sugar tension is your silent partner in marbling - ignore him or her or it at your own peril.

We explored more colors, and the bouquet comb, on non Pareil as well as Italian sisters - alas no chevron base yet… so so so many combs

After marbling no less than 200 papers we had an open house demo for the other school students to enjoy and ask questions at 7pm - a brilliant time was had by all and by 9:30 we were cleaned up and ready to recharge for more marbling tomorrow!
